Sure one can argue that times have changed and the money it costs now to develop a handful of maps compared to 2005 is incomparable, but that is not a valid excuse for poor development. Between all the features, missions and vehicles you can jump in and out of being readily available to you in the PSP port of the original PS2 version of the game, Dice’s Battlefront reboot feels like a barren wasteland of pretty visuals that gives unsuspecting players the slight of hand.ĭice’s Battlefront relies on the player’s nostalgia of playing the original games and watching the original trilogy while also delivering a skin and bones gaming experience that is only being fattened up on the scraps of its equally as bare DLC. Although The Order looked nice, its lack of gameplay ruined it, and if not for the fact that Battlefront is a multiplayer game, it to would be compared on the same level as The Order. A prime example of this would be The Order: 1886. Nevertheless, graphics no matter how good looking do not make a game good by any means. Still, it was a dense and meaty meal fit for a queen, and even with all its minor faults and PSP limitations, Battlefront II on the PSP feels like a complete game while the shiny reboot delivers nothing but a bag of polished graphical bones. Every vehicle, unit and weapon is at the players disposal and the only setback to the port was its struggle with an unstable frame rate and its dated visuals due to the PSP limitations at the time. To everyone’s surprise the port was able to keep up in performance when compared to its console counterpart. Their alliance with with Savage Entertainment allowed Battlefront II to become a port on the PSP, which mirrors its console associates in terms of density and overall scope. In order to answer this question we must travel back to a gaming era far, far in the past… It’s the year 2005 and Pandemic Studios had released the follow up to one of the greatest selling Star Wars games of all time. Is this because fans are willingly choosing to turn a blind eye to one of 2015’s worst games? Yet with all its faults, the EA reboot of the classic gaming series continues to sell rather well regardless of fan backlash. The new Star Wars Battlefront game has been receiving a lot of criticism since its initial release, between the celebrity advertising campaign and the seemingly lack of features compared to the original games.
